Who we are
All parents of boys currently at the School and all current members of staff.
What we do
- Arrange socials for parents, staff and junior boys
- Help at various events run by the School, e.g. the Carol Concert and the Sponsored Walk in the Summer Term
- Co-ordinate the sale of second hand uniform
- Regularly meet with the Friends of City of London Girls School for joint coffee mornings and at joint socials for the children
Regular events include:
First Day of Term: We serve refreshments for parents of new boys who may be accompanying their sons to School on the first day.
Carol Service: Last Thursday of the Autumn Term at Temple Church. The Friends serve mulled wine and mince pies after the service
Game On Joint Events with CLSG: for First and Second Forms, held at either CLS or CLSG
City Walk: Guided walk around the City on a Sunday afternoon in November each year
Quiz Supper: A fun evening held at School each year in February or March giving parents and teachers a chance to socialise over a meal and quiz
Sponsored Walk: The Friends of CLS serve refreshments at the end of the walk each Summer Term
How we do it
There is a committee (inevitably!) of 18 parent members + 2 members of teaching staff. Barry Darling, the Deputy Facilities Manager, is always there to give general advice. We usually meet once a term to organise forthcoming events and mull over past ones. The meetings rarely last more than 90 minutes. They take place at the School at 18:00. Observers are welcome – please feel free to attend and maybe even get co-opted onto the Committee. For more information, email us at friends@clsb.org.uk
